What Questions do You Have for the PE Exam?
Posted on June 22nd, 2010 3 commentsHi, I would like to offer help to my audience. I will be selecting some questions for the next episode to cover. My area of expertise is mostly Civil and Structural Exam. If I do not know the area, I will try to get some help from someone. Do you have a technical question about a problem you are working on? Do you need help on study strategy or what materials to use? Are you concerned about exam strategy?
Please submit your questions below or via email.

Hi Andy,
Good job with the PE podcasts!
I believe you are a PE in CA. So here’s my question:
I’m taking the California Special Civil (seismic + surveying) and was wondering if you have any good study materials that you suggest for these two exams. Also, how long should you prepare for each of the two? Thanks!

Dave,
Thanks for the feedback.Actually, I am not licensed in CA. I am in South Carolina… and I have not taken those special exams.
But, if I were in your shoes, I would go to PPI2pass to get your materials for the CA special civil and special seismic exams. If you add the discount code within my checklist that may help a bit.
As far as study time, if feasible, I would probably tack on another 80 hours or so for each exam – plus the 300 recommended hours for the civil exam (a total of 460 hours). I know that is a lot of time and there is a short time ahead. But, the tried and true way to pass is to put the time into it. You may not be able to physically put that much into it, but do the best you can. It will all be over in a couple months…
Let me know if there is anything else I can do!
